Street Sweeping
Street Sweeping Services
The City of Dublin contracts for sweeping services and provides street sweeping on residential and commercial streets two times per month. Residential areas are usually swept between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., although the schedule may run later if the sweeper encounters a problem or if the amount of debris is unusually heavy. Please help keep our streets clean by moving vehicles and trash bins off the street on designated street sweeping days.

Holiday Street Sweeping Schedule Changes 2025
On weeks when holidays occur, such as Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, garbage collection is delayed and subsequently affects street sweeping.
- The route that is typically swept Thursday, December 25th, will occur on Tuesday, December 30th, instead.
- The route that is typically swept Friday, December 26th, will occur on Monday, December 29th, instead.
Trash Receptacles & Off-Street Parking
Please remove trash bins from the street promptly after collection to allow for effective street sweeping. Please avoid parking on the street during scheduled sweeping days, especially in cul-de-sacs where access is limited.
Trimming Your Trees & Debris in the Street
Trim trees to maintain at least 14 feet of clearance above the street and 7 feet above sidewalks to prevent obstruction. Do not place piles of leaves or yard debris in the street. Sweepers are only authorized to collect naturally fallen leaves and cannot remove large piles. During heavy leaf season (late November–January), sweeping may be delayed due to increased volume.
Community Benefit
The cost of street sweeping and public storm drain cleaning, which was charged directly to property owners for several years, is now paid from the City's general fund. Street sweeping is an important part of the federally mandated Clean Water Program that helps to remove dirt and debris from the street that would otherwise be washed into the City's storm drain system, and ultimately pollute our streams and San Francisco Bay.
