[ARCHIVED] Cool Off at a City of Dublin Facility

In anticipation of the heat wave that is expected to continue through Wednesday, July 3, the City of Dublin is inviting residents who seek relief from the high temperatures to relax at any of its air conditioned community facilities. The City is also offering free recreational swimming at the Dublin Swim Center on Monday and Wednesday evenings this week, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The Dublin Public Library is located at 200 Civic Plaza (adjacent to the Dublin Civic Center and Sports Grounds) and will be open on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. For more information please call (925) 803-7252 or visit www.aclibrary.org.

The Dublin Senior Center, located at 7600 Amador Valley Boulevard, features a lounge area with a television, reference computers, books, lending library, and puzzle table. The Senior Center is open this week on Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Residents are encouraged to drop in, as there is no admission fee. The Dublin Heritage Park and Museums, located at 6600 Donlon Way, features two historical buildings, the Murray Schoolhouse and the Kolb House. Both facilities are air conditioned and will be open on Tuesday, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Dublin Swim Center is a great place to cool down. The facility is located adjacent to Dublin High School at 8157 Village Parkway and has a wading pool, recreational swimming area and deep end with a diving board. The 100-foot long waterslide features a cool splash down at the end. The Swim Center will be open for recreational swim daily from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Monday and Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The City is waiving the admission fee for the evening recreational swim hours this week only.
