[ARCHIVED] New Exhibit Opening at Dublin Heritage Park & Museums Highlights Dublin's First Firefighters

Visit the Dublin Heritage Park and Museums for its newest exhibit, "Fighting Fires and Saving Lives: Dublin's First Firefighters."  Discover the forgotten heroes of 1960s Dublin, whose dedication formed the basis of our community’s safety. Travel back in time to experience the evolution of firefighting through firsthand accounts, vintage gear, and tales of danger, bravery, and courage, as well as the everyday life of early Dublin firefighters.  A grand opening will take place on Saturday, August 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the Little Classroom at the museum.

The exhibit, designed and created by City of Dublin Historian Steve Minniear, with funding from the Dublin Historical Society, tells the stories of the early Dublin firefighters from the 1960s through the 1990s.  It includes artifacts from the Valley Community Service District/Dublin San Ramon Services District, Santa Rita Jail, Camp Parks, and Dougherty Regional Fire District fire departments.  Alameda County Fire Department will have an engine and crew on hand at the grand opening.

Join us in honoring the legacy of the Valley Community Service District, Dublin San Ramon Services District, and Dougherty Regional Fire Authority firefighters who battled smoke, flames, and heat to protect Dublin’s homes and families.
