[ARCHIVED] Dublin Police Services Conducts Illegal Weapons Investigation

On Friday, August 11, 2023, an investigation was initiated by Dublin Police Services into the distribution of illegal weapons from Dublin Knives, a business located on the 6500 block of Dublin Blvd. Detectives executed a search warrant on the involved business and located more than 2000 illegal switchblade knives, approximately 40 rifles/handguns, body armor, four cane swords, 245 sets of brass knuckles and various other weapons.   The owner of the business, 51-year-old Deepak Chopra, was taken into custody for possession of illegal firearms, child endangerment and several additional charges.


A follow up search warrant was executed at Chopra’s residence in Livermore, which resulted in locating 19 complete rifles of various makes and calibers, 25 assault rifle-style lower receivers, over 50 high-capacity magazines, .30 caliber machine gun parts, and an assault rifle-style personally manufactured firearms (PMF) jig used to manufacture untraceable/unserialized firearms.
