[ARCHIVED] City of Dublin Celebrates Two Year Anniversary of Adoption of Climate Action Plan

On September 15, 2020, the Dublin City Council unanimously approved the City's "Climate Action Plan 2030 and Beyond (CAP2030)."  Two years later, the City of Dublin has made much progress in achieving its climate action goals. Progress achieved so far includes:

  • Transitioning electricity accounts citywide to East Bay Community Energy's (EBCE) Renewable 100 as the default electricity product.  All municipal accounts have been on Renewable 100 since July 2019.  Residential accounts transitioned in January 2022 and non-residential accounts will transition in October 2022.  The community-wide transition to Renewable 100 is the most impactful action the city can take to achieve the greenhouse gas emissions reductions required to meet the CAP 2030 goals.
  • Making energy efficiency and resiliency improvements at facilities around the City including solar plus battery storage microgrids; traffic signal back-up power; electric vehicle charging station infrastructure; energy-efficient indoor and outdoor lighting conversions; and replacing old heating/air conditioning units.
  • Installing new three-stream bins to support Senate Bill 1383 and proper waste sorting.  The new solar compacting three-stream bins can be found at Emerald Glen Park, Shannon Community Center, Imagine Playground, and Fallon Sports Park.  New color-coded, three-stream bins can also be found at The Wave waterpark.

For more information on what the City is doing to fight climate change, visit the City's website.  The City of Dublin is also interested in hearing about energy efficiency and improvement projects residents are completing at their homes.  Residents who would like to share their story can contact Environmental Services staff at es@dublin.ca.gov.
