Saturday, April 30, is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. Dublin Police Services will be doing its part in addressing this public safety and public health crisis by holding its bi-annual Drug Take-Back event at the Dublin Civic Center (100 Civic Plaza), 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
This is a free and anonymous collection. Dublin Police will collect tablets, capsules, and all other solid dosage forms of prescription medication, no questions asked. Intravenous solutions, injectables, and syringes will not be accepted.
The Drug Take-Back event addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Prescription drug abuse in the United States is at an alarming rate, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. Studies show that many abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, usually by people raiding medicine cabinets. Additionally, many Americans do not know how to properly dispose of their unused medicine, often flushing them down the toilet or throwing them away – both potential safety and health hazards. This free, anonymous service will help keep homes safe and could save lives. More information can be found at https://www.dea.gov/takebackday.
