[ARCHIVED] Deadline Extended for Temporary Art Display Submissions

The City of Dublin has extended the deadline for artists to submit designs for a temporary art display of decorated Adirondack chairs.  The new deadline is Monday, December 2, at 5:00 p.m.  

The City of Dublin is inviting qualified professional artists and high school student artists working under the supervision of a professional artist or art teacher to submit designs.

Temporary art displays are a great way to bring public art to City streets, define neighborhoods, and deter graffiti.  The City of Dublin has a successful utility box art program and is now seeking to add temporary art displays throughout the City.

Adirondack chairs will be provided to different artists based on their design.  Artists will be given the option to submit a design for one chair or a set of two chairs.  The decorated chairs will be on view from March 2020 through September 2020.  

The City Council has selected the theme, “New American Backyard,” for the chair art.  The chairs will be on temporary display for public viewing at selected business, parks, and events throughout Dublin.  At the end of the exhibition, all the chairs will be sold in an auction during a Fall 2020 City event.

The City will pay a stipend of $1,000 to each artist or, if the artist is a student or student team, to the supervising professional artist or art teacher.  The $1,000 stipend will be paid to the artist whether they choose to design one chair or a two-chair set.
