The Wave will again offer its Sensory Splash program for individuals with special needs. Families can visit The Wave in a calm, sensory-friendly environment on every second Sunday from October 2025 through April 2026, in the Natatorium. During Sensory Splash, the music will be turned off, and whistles will only be used by lifeguards in emergencies. Sensory-friendly toys and a designated quiet space will also be provided. We aim to help our friends with special needs and their families enjoy recreational swimming in a calm environment.
Starfish adaptive swim lessons are also ongoing, with classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:05 p.m. This program offers a modified, individualized curriculum for students of all abilities to learn critical water safety skills and build confidence in the water. Each lesson is the only class in the pool at that time to help reduce noise and overstimulation for students with specific sensory needs.
Sensory Splash will be offered on the following dates:
- October 12, 2025
- November 9, 2025
- December 14, 2025
- January 11, 2026
- February 8, 2026
- March 8, 2026
- April 12, 2026
Tickets: $6.00 per participant. (Caregivers must also pay admissions fee.) Online pre-registration is highly recommended, as participation will be limited. Each sensory-sensitive participant must have a caregiver within arm's reach in the water at all times. Register here.
