Walk & Roll to School Week

The Walk and Roll to School program, held during the month of October, encourages walking, bicycling, scootering, or skating  to school throughout the Dublin community.  Throughout October, the City of Dublin works with Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools to increase awareness of issues surrounding physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion, and the environment.  In the United States, International Walk to School Month is celebrated at over 3,500 events at participating schools. Walkers from the U.S. join children and adults in 40 countries around the world.

Dublin schools celebrate walking and bicycling with promotional assemblies; create Walking School Buses and Bike Trains from nearby locations; and offer giveaways, refreshments, and prizes.  Students should check with Administration at their individual schools for more information on specific events planned regarding their Walk to School Day celebration.

Walk and Roll to School Day in Dublin will be held on Wednesday, October 12.

Dublin's participation in Walk and Roll to School Week is partially funded by Measure B bike and pedestrian funds.

Safer Routes to School Maps

The City of Dublin is also continuing its efforts to build a "Safer Routes to School" map for each Dublin Unified School District elementary school, in order to help students and parents choose the safest route to walk, skateboard, or bike to school.
