Hands-On-History

On Saturday, October 25, 2014, from 1:00-4:00 PM, the Dublin Heritage Park and Museums will turn back time and offer an afternoon of old-fashioned fall fun.  The park’s rustic barns, cemetery and historic buildings provide the perfect setting with all of the aromas and sounds of fall on the farm.

Live entertainment will fill the air from 1:00- 4:00 PM as The Dublin Bluegrass Jam Band plays from the Hay Barn.  Enjoy the unique family-friendly experience;  “Dr. Solar’s  Magical Medicine Show” presented from his solar powered gypsy wagon. From the moment the Doctor cranks up the “orchestra,” you will be dazzled by astonishing feats of mentalism, magic and animal acts, all animated with playful, comedic physical antics.

Visitors may also see the farm animals in the Hay Barn, take a tractor-pulled wagon-ride, play in a hay stack and stroll through the scarecrow exhibit on the grounds.  The 1910 Kolb House and 1850’s Murray Schoolhouse will be open during the event for tours.  Fall foods, including caramel apples, pumpkin pie, fresh cider and craft beer will be available for purchase.

Children can have fun and learn through “Hands-on-History” activities with the purchase of a $5 passport.  They will church ice cream and butter, make apple pie, do laundry with a washboard, make a corn husk doll, and pan for gold.

General admission to Heritage Park and the Harvest Faire is free. The Faire includes both free and pay activities. Passports for living history activities can be purchased at the event for $5. Each passport allows for participation in all activities.
