Park Features
This 10-acre community park is located at 11600 Shannon Ave., near San Ramon Road. A natural creek meanders its way through the park and is a great place for exploring nature.
Picnic Area
Shannon Park has one picnic area that is available for reservation. The picnic area seats 48 and has four BBQs. Reservations can be made by completing the Group Picnic Area Application, or online. No inflatable jump houses or other equipment is allowed at the park. Note: Dogs are permitted on a leash.
Water Play Area
The water play area will be open beginning June 15 through Labor Day weekend, daily from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The new splash pad is a recirculating water system that filters and treats the water for reuse.
Art Installation
The park also features public art commissioned by the City of Dublin. "Sirius," by artist Peter Voulkas, was completed in 1990, and is the largest and most ambitious work in bronze undertaken by Voulkos in his long and illustrious career.
Voulkos is best known for his ground-breaking work in ceramics. He was one of the first artists in the late 1950s to create large-scale sculpture out of clay. In the late '60s, he began to work with bronze and has continued over the years to create large-scale bronze works for major museums and public commissions across the United States.
In the Bay Area, his bronzes can be seen at the Oakland Museum, San Francisco Hall of Justice, and the University Art Museum in Berkeley.
