Ava Community Energy (formerly East Bay Community Energy)
What is Ava Community Energy?
On Tuesday, October 24, 2023 East Bay Community Energy (EBCE) become Ava Community Energy (Ava). Ava is the County of Alameda's Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) program, a community-governed power supplier that provides cleaner electricity to Alameda County residents and businesses, at rates that are lower or comparable to PG&E. Ava Community Energy was previously known as East Bay Community Energy, prior to its expansion into the Central Valley. Ava partners with PG&E, which continues to deliver electricity and gas, maintain the power lines, respond to outages, and provide billing and customer service. Ava is committed to providing electricity generated from a high percentage of renewable sources such as solar, wind, and geothermal energy. The goal is to have more local control over our community's sources of energy, which can lead to cleaner, greener, and more local electricity. For more information, visit Ava's FAQ page.

How do I enroll in Ava?
Ava (formerly East Bay Community Energy) began serving Dublin residential, business, and municipal electricity customers in 2018 to help meet greenhouse gas emissions reductions goals set in the City of Dublin's Climate Action Plan 2030 and Beyond. The Dublin City Council voted in January 2021 to set the default energy option for Dublin residences to Ava's Renewable 100 service, which began in January 2022. The City of Dublin has opted up to Renewable 100 for all of its municipal accounts since July 2019. Renewable 100 is 100% wind and solar energy, priced at 1/4 cent cent per kilowatt-hour above PG&E rates. You do not need to take any action to participate. PG&E still delivers your home energy. You will continue to receive bills directly to PG&E, and PG&E will continue to provide the the same reliable service. To read more about the transition, please visit our energy webpage. Rates and Billing
Ava electricity rates are set through a transparent public process and approved by the Ava Board of Directors, who are elected officials from all participating jurisdictions. Members of the public are encouraged to participate in publicly noticed hearings for each step of the process.

You have three options for electricity service:
- Renewable 100: the default option for Dublin customers which offers 100% renewable and carbon-free electricity, priced at 1/4 cent per kilowatt-hour above PG&E rates (about $1 extra per month more for a typical Dublin home).
- Bright Choice: priced at 5% below PG&E rates.
- Choose to continue to purchase power directly from PG&E by opting out of Ava.
