East Bay Community Energy (EBCE) is Alameda County's Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) program. Authorized by California law in 2002, CCA enables cities and county governments to pool the electricity demand within their jurisdictions in order to procure or generate electrical power supplies on behalf of the residents and businesses in their communities. EBCE is committed to providing electricity generated from a high percentage of renewable sources such as solar, wind, and geothermal energy. The goal is to have more local control over our community's sources of energy, which can lead to cleaner, greener, and more local electricity.
EBCE is a joint powers authority that aggregates electricity demand within participating Alameda County jurisdictions in order to produce more sustainable electricity for its customers. Pacific Gas & Electric Company will continue to provide customer billing, transmission, and distribution services.
The Dublin City Council voted to join East Bay Community Energy on November 15, 2016. The City Council presentation and discussion can be seen here.
